2018 | RESTAURANT | PYRMONT
Within this heritage warehouse, The Ovolo 1888 Hotel’s central lounge adjoins a breakfast room that transitions into a restaurant and bar. Its palette compliments the layers of the distressed ironbark beams and exposed brick walls.
We commissioned Oliver Watts to paint a wall mural and bar relief in addition to splashing his paintbrush upon the upholstered fabrics in the open areas, unleashing native Australian flora shades. Referencing Pyrmont’s trade origins, lighting alludes to the shipyard pulley and lever hoist theme, whilst curved fluted marble bar corners recall ship bows. Service areas clad in polished brass sheet metal and mesh combined with brass end caps on communal tables anchor the towering atrium space.
