Single O Ryogoku Roastworks

2024 | CAFÉ | TOKYO

Operating within a revitalised corrugated metal warehouse in Tokyo’s Ryogoku district, our café and coffee roastery design engages the senses (sight, smell and taste) offering patrons insights into Single O’s operations.

A custom metal pod housing a café, office and tasting room neatly slots along an internal wall within the roastery where repurposed and eco-friendly materials tap into Single O’s mission to reduce waste, including orange plastic filaments (Single O’s branding tone) articulating display shelves, table faces and counter ledges. Sliding and roller doors open onto the street, granting immediate access to the café, roastery and bean storage facilities, while part of the pod ceiling morphs into a skylight to expose the warehouse’s lofty frame like the lid of a can peeling open.
