Castle Towers

2019 | FOOD | RETAIL | PRECINCT | CASTLE HILL

Completed within phase one of Castle Towers’ $180 million integrated transport and retail hub, forest references, superior material choices and customised lighting augment the food precinct’s immersive offering, creating an emotive centrifuge for visitors to linger within.

Evoking the experience of sitting under a tree canopy, abstract paperbark forest paintings by Oliver Watts line over-scaled plywood hoods above seating arrangements. The Autumnal shades found in Australian natives were extracted into pixelated forms, informing the gradient shading of the powder-coated aluminium paddles surrounding the pods like coloured bark. Beneath, the artist’s brush was unleashed upon upholstery fabrics, laminated tables and raised bar surfaces.
