2017 | CAFÉ | SYDNEY
Residing within the foyer entrance of an office building, the café is a more sophisticated offering than its Surry Hills and Botany outposts (also designed by Luchetti Krelle), yet imbues their street-smarts and unpretentious sentiment.
Endeavouring to capture the spirit of camaraderie amongst workers whilst channeling typical Italian coffee bars, a five metre-long standing area accommodates patrons sipping espressos on the go. Inspired by the coffee-making process, paper and filtration are reoccurring themes. A geometrical grey cloud-like paper installation by artist Renuka Fernando delicately painted with coffee and cascara (coffee fruit tea) hangs from the ceiling, whilst glowing portholes showcase a selection of coffee bag merchandise.
