Momofuku
Seiobo
2012 | RESTAURANT | PYRMONT
Vertical black metal bars brace the glass exterior of David Chang’s first Momofuko restaurant outside the US, offering narrow peepholes to the culinary treasures within for curious gourmands.
Subtle signage featuring a playful bronze peach on the entrance door directs guests within this destination fine diner (Momofuku translates to ‘lucky peach’ in Japanese). Inside the dimly lit space, tables floating upon slate floors surround an exposed kitchen where chefs theatrically prepare dishes. Its glassed-in rear wall fridge exhibits stacked and hung ingredients, presenting as a modern day still life.
